family center

The YWCA Family Center provides emergency shelter and critical services to stabilize homeless families in central Ohio. A national model, our goal is to help families find housing within 3 weeks of entering the program.

our impact

To assist our families with rapid re-housing, we offer a breadth of services under one roof:

direct family assistance
Our families receive healthy meals, warm beds, basic need items, and transportation assistance while they stay with us.

family advocacy
Each family is assigned a family advocate who assists with housing and job search. They also refer parents and children to onsite and community based services such as childcare, financial literacy, mental health, healthcare and eviction prevention education.

employment and resource center
One way we support families is through a space where adults can use technology to search for jobs and housing. Parents work with family advocates, partner agencies, and volunteers for assistance while in the ERC.

childcare
We offer award-winning childcare so that parents can spend worry-free days searching for new homes and jobs. Because of our partnership with Project Connect and our value on preserving dignity for homeless children, we bus our students to their school of origin during their Family Center stay.

"I left my home and everything I had to get out of an abusive situation. The YWCA Family Center has taken great care of me and my children. We have had warm beds, good meals and lots of people who care about us.

Because of the YWCA’s support, we now have a new home, and I have a job that makes good use of my master’s degree. I am so blessed."
