About This Year’s Activists and Agitators
Schools have historically been a battleground for civil rights and — unfortunately — this holds true today with the issues we’re seeing nationally around LGBTQ+ rights and the erasure of our nation’s history.
As an organization dedicated to eliminating racism and rooted in peace, freedom, justice, and dignity for all, YWCA Columbus has a vested interest in ensuring that all youth, particularly students of color and LGBTQ+ students, are taught truth in schools and given equitable opportunities to succeed.
Ibram X. Kendi will be leading the conversation this year on antiracism, education, and his recent work to make history accessible to all ages.

Activists and Agitators is an annual YWCA Columbus event dedicated to uniting the Columbus community and inspiring attendees to pursue greater social change together than we can achieve alone.
This event fosters dialogue, provides practical resources, and educates the community to promote empowerment and inclusion. We created Activists and Agitators with the belief that anyone and everyone can be an agent for social change. If we all commit to intentional, anti-racist, direct action and harm reduction, our collective impact will be profound.
