As the early childhood center director at Safe & Sound, YWCA Columbus’ 5-star Step Up to Quality rated child care program, Kaleena Wiseman is passionate about working with children, especially at-risk kids who have experienced trauma.
Working at the Family Center, Kaleena supports families and parents by providing a safe and nurturing environment for kids. This provides parents the opportunity to job search or go to work, leading to positive long-term outcomes for their families.
Specifically, per The Urban Child Institute, high-quality child care can contribute to increased cognitive abilities, improved language development, and better relationships with peers.
Kaleena hopes that, in the future, YWCA Columbus can continue growing its early childhood programs, expand upon existing programs, and introduce new programming to the community to help more children experiencing trauma and poverty.
