Families and children need support right now, and the YWCA Kids Place program is stepping up to help!

YWCA Columbus Kids Place ‘Winter Session’ is the period of time when Westerville and Gahanna School Districts have temporarily suspended hybrid learning models and are opting for remote learning. We will continue to follow the school district(s) plans.

Kids Place will support* your children by creating an environment conducive to learning during the school day, and by providing fun, enrichment activities before, after and in between!

Full Day Schedule

7:00 AM – 6:00 PM (M-F)

A special note about enrollment:

Parents who sign up for the YWCA Kids Place Winter Session will need to commit to all the session weeks. There is no option to select individual weeks. If you withdraw from the program, we require a two week notice. This is in alignment with best practices for keeping groups together and not introducing new students to groups to prevent potential COVID-19 transmission.

Supplies needed during Special Winter Session:

Please plan ahead to make sure the following supplies are brought to the program every day in a book bag labeled with your child’s name:

  • Healthy lunch (requiring no refrigeration and has food items that can be opened by your child without the assistance of a staff person)
  • Headphones/earbuds
  • Mask
  • Water bottle
  • Laptop/Chromebook (charged and ready for use) and all other materials needed to complete their school assignments
  • PLEASE make sure everything your child brings is labeled with a name
  • School schedule of required meetings, websites, passwords, and anything else you can think of that might help the staff.

Scholarship Opportunity

Due to the generosity of Gahanna’s Mifflin Presbyterian Church and an anonymous donor, the YWCA has received a very generous donation for child care tuition scholarships available for the YKP Winter Session in Gahanna. This donation is intended to support families experiencing financial hardship and need assistance with child care tuition.

To see if you qualify, please complete THIS form and email to Valerie Henthorn at Scholarship funds are limited. Funds will be dispersed on a first come, first served basis.

Health and Safety Policies

We have updated our YKP health and safety policies in our parent handbook to respond to the COVID19 crisis. Please review them and if you have any questions reach out to Gahanna Program Administrator, Mandi Buchwald: , or Westerville Program Administrator, Laura Miller:

* Please keep in mind our staff are not classroom teachers. We can assist children who need clarification or help on lessons, but it is the responsibility of the parents to monitor academic progress, assignment completion and progression.
