YWCA Columbus Welcomes New Chief Operating Officer, Local Leader on Housing

FEB. 20, 2024 (COLUMBUS, OH) – YWCA Columbus announced this week that Sue Darby will be joining its executive leadership team next month.

As chief operating officer, Sue will oversee the organization’s social services delivery, including the YWCA Family Center, Women’s Residency program, and childcare programs. She will ensure that YWCA delivers industry-leading services in alignment with the mission. Additionally, Sue will serve as a trusted partner to the CEO in executing strategies to achieve the organization’s vision.

“Sue’s reputation as a shelter and housing leader is exemplary,” said Elizabeth C. Brown, president and CEO of YWCA Columbus. “Her professional background alongside her shared vision and passion for our mission will make her an excellent addition to our YWCA Columbus team.”

Previously, as senior vice president of housing and a long-time leader at YMCA of Central Ohio, Sue oversaw the fivefold expansion of YMCA’s housing portfolio during her tenure. She also orchestrated the organization’s national CARF accreditation and has provided training and coaching to leaders in the YMCA network across the country. Sue is a graduate of Lipscomb University and a recipient of the 2017 Community Shelter Board Hero Award for her work with the Homeless Service Providers Committee on Racism.

“The Board of Trustees welcomes Sue into this role,” said Rebecca Butler, YWCA Columbus Board Chair. “With extensive experience in training leaders, as well as organizational strategy, she will be a strong addition to YWCA.”
