Roots & Reflections complements our Racial Equity 101 video and creates a structured space where participants examine their identity, values, and lived experiences, and how these factors shape workplace culture and service delivery. Facilitators connect current social conditions to defining moments in our nation’s founding and development, helping participants trace how historical systems influence present-day policies, patterns, and norms. The format invites individuals to identify patterns that extend beyond personal perspective.
Participants explore how community histories continue to shape opportunities and access. The conversation can be customized to align with specific service lines, sectors, and organizational priorities. Organizations leave with a deeper shared understanding and an invitation for better mission alignment and equity-focused action.

− Engage in discussions about fairness, accessibility and shared responsibility in building resilient and inclusive communities.

In this facilitated conversation, participants examine how implicit bias is formed, how it appears in day-to-day interactions, and how it can influence decisions about ourselves, neighbors, and the people we serve. Using examples from hiring practices, workplace evaluations, and communication, the session connects the idea of bias to situations people encounter regularly. The primary objectives of this conversation are to help individuals recognize bias, acknowledge its impact, and practice more cultural humility to reduce harm and promote belonging.

Some environments, language, and habits can carry unintended messages about identity, belonging, or competence. These moments often happen quickly and can leave people unsure how to respond appropriately and in real time. This workshop explores what microaggressions look like, how they affect individuals and teams, and why they often go unaddressed. Participants work through examples and practice ways to respond and identify the harm microaggressions cause. Participants leave with practical language and approaches that support respect and accountability in everyday interactions.

Every person carries multiple identities that shape how they move through the world and how others experience them. These identities influence access to opportunity, safety, and belonging in different communities. Participants will investigate the concepts of identity, privilege, and intersectionality in clear, practical terms.
Participants will map their own identities and connect how they shape experiences at work, in leadership, and in nearly every interaction. The conversation focuses on a values-neutral approach where participants recognize diverse experiences and lead with respect.
