Recognize an Elected Leader
Nominations for Elected Leaders are now available!
At YWCA Columbus, we know representation matters. Electing more women and gender expansive people to positions of power is key to building an inclusive democracy where every voice is heard.
As part of the 40th Women of Achievement event, we’ll honor elected officials leading the way for gender equity in a special, one-time recognition. Submissions are due Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.
At YWCA Columbus, we believe that representation matters, especially in our nation’s highest offices. And, we are committed to championing and empowering women as they rise to all levels of government. In our vision of a truly inclusive, multiracial democracy where every voice is heard and valued, we know one of the first steps is electing and appointing more women to positions of power.
Per RepresentWomen, a nonprofit dedicated to researching, understanding, and championing "evidence-based solutions that break down structural barriers to women’s political leadership,” more women in government would strengthen our democracy by:
Making it more representative
Reviving bi-partisanship and collaboration
Improving the deliberative process
Encouraging a new style of leadership
Building greater trust in our elected bodies
In this current moment, we believe it is more critical than ever to recognize the elected officials leading the way for equity, and we are excited to honor them on April 2.
