YWCA Columbus Condemns Fatal Violence by Federal Agents in Minneapolis

YWCA Columbus condemns the federal immigration operations that led to yesterday’s fatal shooting in Minneapolis and joins national leaders in calling for full transparency and accountability to ensure justice for the victim, Renee Nicole Good.

Yesterday’s shooting was entirely preventable and serves as an escalation of the ongoing kidnapping, physical and psychological harm levied against immigrant communities by the hands of federal agents. We are deeply saddened by all the lives lost and families torn apart through this administration’s immigration enforcement efforts.

Our mission calls us to envision a world in which all people are freed from oppression. In the wake of this tragic incident, we urge our lawmakers and community leaders to defend constitutional rights afforded to all, including the rights to peaceful assembly and speech, as well as the safety and dignity of all persons, regardless of their immigration status.
